Smoking Policy

Healing Is In The Air

SMOKE-FREE, INSIDE & OUT

Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, and secondhand smoke has known health risks. As a major provider of healthcare in the community, Klickitat Valley Health is committed to leading by example and creating a healthy environment for our patients, visitors, employees and volunteers. Effective September 1, 2018, smoking is not permitted by anyone on any of our campuses, owned/leased property or in any hospital owned/leased vehicle. This also includes parking areas, as well as cars that are parked on hospital property.

Visitors who wish to smoke must leave the hospital grounds in order to do so.

If you are a patient scheduled for admission to the hospital, your physician will work with you to find ways to make you comfortable during your stay. He or she can provide you with information about smoking alternatives and, if necessary, write you a prescription for Nicotine Replacement Therapy or a pharmacological quit aid. There are also a variety of resources available for smoking cessation including Nicotine Anonymous 404.244.8444. You may also take advantage of these free APPS (applications) for your phone or iPhone. Each of these offers different ways to help you in your efforts to stop smoking. Both Android and iPhone options are provided:

We know that following a smoke-free policy can be very difficult (especially in a stressful situation), but we feel strongly that a smoke-free campus will provide a healthier environment and will underscore our commitment to support the health of our employees, patients and community.

We will do our best to keep you healthy and comfortable while you’re with us.
